DESCRIPTION OF WORK: MAPPING FLOOR

With this task we were put into pairs and had to look at ways in which we could present the ideas of us mapping out a space. So me and my partner we looked at the ways in which the lines of the floors had reminded us of lines on a map and so we had thought of investigating the small part of the floor within the whole room.

We had to physically map out the floor in the room with masking tape, which fits with the theme of 'mapping' and than we wanted to stick this on the paper and show the map prints of the lines on the floor on a piece of paper. In order to achieve this we had to stick the tape facing upwards on the floor so we could have it sticking on the paper.

As we successfully done that we were trying to think of meanings we could give for outcome. and as we saw the contrast of the white masking tape and paper and the black lines and dark wood colour we thought of the idea of it representing positivity vs negativity.

In order to improve our work further we thought it would be interesting to show the reflection of the purpose of the floor in our work. This is because we wanted to give the same purpose to the same part of the floor that we had 'mapped' out. We had a feeling that the prominent foot prints of the shoes could represent the idea of us mapping the floor clearly.
